Safety Checks in Florida

There's a new prescription drug safety program being used by hundreds of independent pharmacies in Florida called PMPReport.com . It's a free service pharmacists use to detect whether a patient has been to any other pharmacies before dispensing controls. It works simply by entering the patient's date of birth, zip and house number. Those 3 numbers are used to see if any other pharmacy has done the same inquiry.

It's only a month old, but already catching about 100 doctor shoppers a day just with the small number of pharmacies using it. It has several advantages over the classic ASAP standard reporting PDMP programs. Once the Florida beta is done, we will be promoting it nationally. It's a free service. There's more information at the link below. Would like to hear feedback and comments from folks in a forum like this.

http://pdmp.us/pmp/docs/Safetychecks.pdf

Forum: Prescription Monitoring Programs
